Songs of realization (Skt. doha) by ancient Indian Buddhist mahasiddhas in English translation with contemporary melodies!
This is just a beginning; more songs will be uploaded in the future.
The recordings here are obviously not a professional album; they are meant as a support for people who want to sing and learn the melodies of these songs.
Some of the song lyrics may not be in accord with current ideas about what is PC and what is not. However, besides coming from a very different time and culture, some of these songs deliberately use derogatory terms to indicate the highest Buddhist spiritual principles and their ultimate inexpressibility.
In keeping with the tradition of how these songs were sung, one and the same melody is sometimes used for more than one song.
I'd like to thank Stephanie Johnston for her help with the arrangement of the songs for music and for singing them together with me. We both thank Allison Maryatt for her generous assistance with recording the songs at her studio and remixing them.
